The Barbadian songbird has stripped off once again to pose in
skimpy swimwear, while naturally documenting every nanosecond
of it.
This time, the Diamonds megastar got a little artsy, swishing
around underwater and thrusting her head around with eyes
closed as if strutting her stuff for a Vogue cover.
Wearing an orange and pink string bikini, the 25-year-old showed
off her trim frame in the summery two-piece, as well as rocking
plenty of bling on her fingers and large hoop earrings.
The triangle bra halter-neck rested just below her cleavage,
meaning every inch of her goddess Isis chest tattoo was on
display; the etching of which is a tribute to her late grandma

Why lullabies really do send babies to sleep
Everyone knows that lullabies help babies sleep. But as a new
study reveals they can also ease pain, Ivan Hewett explores
why music has such a powerful effect on infants
Hold the front page! It turns out that lullabies ease pain and
anxiety in children. This story was reported yesterday – and as
often happens, you wonder why anyone would think it was
news. Isn't that why lullabies emerged in the first place, to stop
children being afraid of the dark, still their fidgety bodies and
minds, and lull them off to sleep?
Still, let's be fair. This story, as featured on Radio 4's Today
programme, was the outcome of a proper research project
carried out at Great Ormond Street Hospital, which set out to
answer the question of whether it really is listening to live music
that has this soothing effect, or the presence of an attentive
adult. Thirty-seven patients under the age of three were
"recruited", all with heart or respiratory problems. Each took
part in three 10-minute sessions: one in which they were read to,
one in which they were sung lullabies, and one in which they were
left alone. What the researchers discovered was "a significant
decrease in heart rate and pain level" at the end of the session
involving music.

Pakistani Girl, 13, 'Buried Alive After RapeSurvives By Crawling Through Muddy Grave'
A teenage girl has survived after being raped by
two men and then buried alive, media reports say.
The 13-year-old was abducted as she walked to
attend Quran lessons in the Toba Tek Singh district
of Pakistan, 225km from Lahore, NDTV writes.
It is thought the two unidentified men accused of
raping her believed she had died during the assault
and buried her by the roadside.
The channel adds that once the girl regained
consciousness, she managed to claw her way
through the muddy earth and seek help from a
passer-by who took her to a nearby medical
centre.
The girl's father Siddique Mughal notified police
about the attack, but according to Outlook India,
the authorities "were not cooperating with the

Wenger impresses by Arsenal
Arsene Wenger praised Arsenal's mature
performance as the Premier League
leaders survived Mikel Arteta's red card to
clinch a gritty 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.
Arteta was dismissed with 25 minutes
left to play after the Spanish midfielder
had opened the scoring from the penalty
spot early in the second half at Selhurst
Park on Saturday.
But two superb saves from Wojciech
Szczesny kept Arsenal ahead and the
visitors, who struggled to play with their
trademark fluency in possession, eventually
finished off spirited Palace when Olivier
Giroud's fifth Premier League goal of the
season sealed the points in the closing
minutes.
And after suffering their first defeat
since the opening day of the season
against Borussia Dortmund in midweek,
Wenger was impressed with the way his
players returned to winning ways with a
run of difficult games to come including
league fixtures against Liverpool and
Manchester United.
"It was not a game of brilliance but
efficiency and patience," he said.
"Maybe were not at our sharpest but we
were serious and determined. After the
disappointment of Tuesday night, it was
important to respond with a win straight
away.
"We dealt well with the situation. We were
mature, organised and didn't become nervous. Szczesny made
two great saves at an important moment of the game and
eventually we got the second goal."
In a week that saw manager Ian Holloway leave second bottom
Palace after a fifth successive defeat, the hosts could consider
themselves unlucky not to have earned something from this
game.
Yet they did have a stroke of luck when Arteta was harshly
given his marching orders for bringing down former Gunners
team-mate Marouane Chamakh wide on the right flank.
However, with a League Cup tie against Chelsea to come this
week, Wenger revealed he does not intend to appeal that decision.
A groin injury that forced the returning Mathieu Flamini off in the
seventh minute could leave Arsenal down to the bare bones in
midfield for the meeting with Jose Mourinho's side.
Yet in line with his usual policy, Wenger will select a largely reserve
team for that match.
Despite his injury worries, though, the French manager remains
confident that his squad can cope with the real challenges yet to
come.
"The only thing we can do is keep winning our games but we have
some difficult games coming up and that will be a big test,"
Wenger said.
"We are ambitious and we want to do as well as we can. It's a
good feeling (to be top), but without any massive significance
"We had an opportunity to put pressure on all the rivals and we
did that."
Holloway's former assistant Keith Millen took charge of Palace,
but he couldn't stop the south Londoners suffering their eighth
defeat in nine league matches since being promoted via the
Championship play-offs last season.
Former Stoke City manager Tony Pulis remains the favourite to
take over and Millen believes their performance against Arsenal
showed that they still have a chance of turning things around.
"I think it's an attractive job. We're in a great financial position
but if you look at the players today, whoever takes over will see
there is something to build on," he said.
"Whether we can get enough points to stay up we'll have to see,
but I think it's important we get someone in as quickly as possible.
"We need someone from the outside to come in and have a look to
see where we're going wrong.

Boy carrying toy gun shot dead by police
A 13-year-old boy carrying a replica assault rifle has been shot
dead by police in the US state of California, the BBC reports.
Officers in the city of Santa Rosa say they opened fire after the
boy refused orders to drop the rifle, which they believed to be
real.
The shooting on Tuesday is now being investigated.
It comes a day after a 12-year-old boy in Nevada shot dead a
maths teacher at his school and wounded two fellow pupils
before taking his own life.
In the latest incident, two sheriff's deputies saw the teenager
"with what appeared to be some type of rifle", a news release
from the Sonoma County Sheriff's office said.
The deputies called for backup and repeatedly ordered the boy to
drop the gun before firing several rounds from their handguns,
police said.
The boy, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was later
identified by his family as Andy Lopez.
"He was holding the weapon in his left hand. He began to turn
toward his right in the direction of the deputy, and in so doing he
moved the gun toward the deputy, and the deputy's mindset was
that he was fearful he would be shot," Lt Paul Henry of Santa
Rosa police said.
But the boy's father, Rodrigo Lopez said the shooting made no
sense. "My son lost his life. He's not alive any more just because
of the mistake of somebody."
The replica gun had belonged to a friend, he said.
The sheriff's office said a plastic handgun had also been found in
the boy's waistband.
Witness Brian Zastrow told the Santa Rosa Press Democrat he
heard seven shots.
"First, I heard a single siren and within seconds I heard seven
shots go off, sounded like a nail gun," he said.
One man who saw the events unfold said the shooting was over
in an instant.
"He pulled over to the kid walking and he just opened the door and
shot him, three shots," Ismael Mondragon told KGO-TV.
Police Lt Dennis O'Leary said the deputies had been placed on
administrative leave pending the inquiry.
Sheriff Steve Freitas described the shooting as a "tragedy" and
promised the investigation would be thorough and transparent.
"As a father of two boys about this age, I can't begin to imagine
the grief this family is going through," he said.
A spokeswoman for the boy's school described him as "a very
loved student, a very popular, very handsome young man, very
smart and capable".
Linsey Gannon, assistant principal at Lawrence Cook Middle School,
said he played trumpet in the school band.
"Our community has been rocked by his loss," she said.
Candles, teddy bears and flowers have since been left at the
scene of the shooting.
"He was a good kid, he was 13 years old. He didn't look like a man,
Andy, he was a boy," one friend told local media.
On Monday, a 12-year-old boy who has not been named opened
fire at a school in Sparks, Nevada, killing maths teacher and
Afghanistan veteran Michael Landsberry.
Police said Mr Landsberry had tried to coax the boy to drop the
gun, enabling children in the playground to flee.
The boy then shot and injured two fellow pupils, before taking his
own life on the outdoor basketball court.
President Barack Obama has recently renewed calls for changes
to US gun laws following a series of deadly shootings. However,
the BBC's Alastair Leithead in Los Angeles says the proposals face
fierce resistance.

ASUU strike: Idle students take up menial jobs
Some undergraduates in Kaduna have ventured into various
vocations to keep them occupied as the strike by the Academic
Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) persists, the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Some of them who spoke with NAN on Friday in Kaduna said that
they had to find something to do, to keep their minds occupied
and avoid trouble.
Grace Ocholi, a 300-level student of English at Ahmadu Bello
University, Zaria, said she secured a temporary job as a fuel
pump attendant at a petrol station in Sabon-Tasha area of the
city to enable her earn some money until the end of the strike.
"Everyone in my house go out every morning to work, and my
younger sisters go to school while I stay home and sleep awaiting
for their return.
"I am not okay with staying idle so I decided to engage in
something useful," Grace said.
Seun Ali, an HND Computer Science student of Kaduna Polytechnic
told NAN that he worked at my uncle's workshop to earn.
some money instead of staying idle at home.
Another student, Henry Samuel of Mass Communication
Department, Ahmadu Bello University, said he was assisting his
father in selling tiles before he was admitted to the university.
Samuel said he had to continue manning the business until the end
of the lecturers' strike.
"So instead of wasting time waiting for the prolonged strike to
end, I returned to continue from where I stopped," he said.
The students advised their colleagues to engage in something
meaningful while the strike lasted, so as not to fall into the
temptation of going into crime due to idleness.
NAN recalls that ASUU had been on strike since June over the
non-implementation of a 2009 agreement it entered with the
Federal Government on the funding of public universities.

Nigeria: Journalists humiliated from Boko Haram Suspects'Trial
The journalists, who were at the Lagos Federal High Court,
yesterday, to cover the arraignment of the alleged 17 members
of Boko Haram were greeted with humiliation and threat from
men of the Department of State Services, DSS, that escorted
the accused persons.
The journalists were sent out of the courtroom by the armed
security operatives and one of them threatened to arrest the
journalists if they resist.
A senior DSS officer told newsmen that the directive to keep
them away from the arraignment of the suspected Boko Haram
members was from the Presidency.
Other litigants were equally barred from the courtroom. When the
Boko Haram case was called, some lawyers were implored to
leave the court, this, it was gathered, was due to the small size
of the courtroom.
However, the arraignment of the suspected Boko Haram
members, which had suffered two adjournments on October 2
and 9, due to lack of interpreter and the absence of the trial
judge, respectively, could not go on yesterday.
This was because the first to fifth accused persons namely (Ali
Mohammed, Adamu Karumi, Ibrahim Usman, Bala Haruna, Idris Ali)
did not have legal representation.
Presiding judge, Musa Kurya, adjourned the matter till November
27, for the arraignment of the accused persons.

Ancelotti:It's Ronaldo's time to win Balon d'or
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti believes it is Cristiano Ronaldo's
time to win the Ballon d'Or this year, ahead of Lionel Messi and
Franck Ribery.
The Portuguese star has played second fiddle to Barcelona ace
Messi since winning the prize for the first time back in 2008,
with the Argentine claiming the last four titles in a row, but
Ancelotti believes he deserves to win the latest crown for the
all-round impact he has on the Spanish giants.
"It's Cristiano's moment to win it ahead of Messi and Ribery,"
Ancelotti told TV programme El Larguero. "He has surprised me
the most with his professionalism. He's very serious, he has
amazing attention to detail. It's that which helps us the most - he
doesn't just score."
Ancelotti went on to explain his decision to allow Mesut Ozil to join
Arsenal this summer, claiming he prefers Angel Di Maria for the
balance he brings to the team alongside €100 million signing Gareth
Bale.
"It was a technical decision [to sell Ozil]," he continued. "I prefer
Di Maria for the balance of the team.
"He has less quality than Ozil but, for his character and the way
he helps the team, I wanted him. With the arrival of Bale I thought
it was more important to have Di Maria than Ozil.
"[Bale] wasn't cheap but that's the price of the market. It was
the wish of the player that brought him here. Tottenham
offered him more money."
Bale has struggled with injuries in recent weeks, but Ancelotti
feels he is now fully fit and could start the Clasico against
Barcelona this weekend.
"Since he's been here, he has not had a back problem. The
problem was his physical condition, as he hadn't trained. Now
he's good, he's ready to play from the start. He could start
against Barcelona.
"I asked him and he told me he prefers to play from the right. I
think he likes playing from the right so he can shoot from his left
foot."
Iker Casillas started the Champions League win over Valencia, but
Ancelotti hinted that Diego Lopez will keep his place for
Saturday's clash - though he insisted the club captain does not
want to leave the club in January.
"It's a question for Iker, but I don't think he thinks like that," he
said when asked if the Spain veteran would ask for a move.
"I have spoken with him to explain the situation. When he wants
to talk to me, my door is always open. For a coach, to explain the
situation is the most difficult.
"I already knew Diego Lopez. In 2006 I wanted to bring him to AC
Milan… He started before the pre-season and was very strong. It
wasn't an easy decision. Casillas gives me confidence and so I play
him in the Champions League, these games are as important as La
Liga.
"He is the captain, he has a lot of experience and he maintains the
harmony in the team. Iker wants to stay at Madrid and this is
good for us. But I've made my decision."
Finally, the former Paris Saint-Germain boss claims his side will
face a tough challenge against a confident Barcelona side this
weekend, and added that he is closer to Vicente del Bosque as a
coach than Madrid predecessor Jose Mourinho.
"Barca play with a lot of confidence because they've changed
practically nothing," he added. "When Mourinho was here there
were problems but they played fantastically there [at Camp
Nou]. I will try to play like the semi-final of the Copa del Rey last
year, the 3-1, and not change anything.
"I'm closer to Del Bosque than Mourinho."

said when asked if the Spain veteran would ask for a move.
Chris brown lost his virginity aged 8
The Kiss Kiss hitmaker, who is
now aged 24, tells The
Guardian newspaper he was an
early bloomer growing up in
rural Virginia.
He explains, "It's different in
the country. By that point, we
were already kind of like hot to
trot, you know what I'm
saying? Like, girls, we weren't
afraid to talk to them; I wasn't
afraid. So, at eight, being able
to do it (have sex), it kind of
preps you for the long run, so
you can be a beast at it. You
can be the best at it."
Brown refused to say how many women he has bedded, but
went on to compare himself to Purple Rain hitmaker Prince.
He added, "You know how Prince had a lot of girls back in the
day? Prince was, like, the guy. I'm just that, today. But most
women won't have any complaints if they've been with me. They
can't really complain. It's all good."

Is he a Husband material
Recently, I met some young people
who were keen to understand how
they can know for sure when a guy
is serious about them and whether
he is husband material. Interestingly,
this is a question that pops up more
often.
You may be in a relationship and
wondering whether he is serious or
simply taking you for a ride. The
truth is that many guys I have met
are very clear about what they are
looking for in a relationship; it could be
just for "bed and breakfast", period!
Or, for a relationship intended for
marriage.
The question is, which one are you
in? Many young girls prefer to
remain blind and in denial about the
reality of a relationship headed
nowhere; sometimes simply to
massage their egos; that someone is
attracted to them, even when they
are certain that the relationship is
headed nowhere!
It is most important that your
friends and family approve of the
relationship. While this may seem
inconsequential, marriage is not a
relationship that is only for a couple,
but in our cultural set up, it is
community based, so it's important
that significant others are involved.
Many individuals with challenged
relationships admit that their parents
and friends did not approve of the
relationship from the word 'go', but
they chose to proceed with it and
disregard their advice. If most people
who know you well raise concerns,
surely apply some wisdom and re-
examine the relationship. It is
unreasonable to think that everyone
is wrong, judgmental, jealous and
unreasonable except yourself.
Remember the saying, "Love is Blind".
He is not overly jealous
A guy that you are dating and is
husband material should be secure in
the knowledge that others will also
find you attractive, and that you too
did not suddenly become blind to the
attractiveness of others, just
because you're in a relationship. He
ought to trust you and feel secure in
the relationship. Yes you enjoy his
company but you do not need to be
with him all the time, this does not
mean that you are up to any
mischief, nor should it affect the
relationship drastically.
Is he keen to listen to you?
Attentive listening is important in any
relationship and one should be clear to
acknowledge whether or not he
listens attentively to you. This is one
way he shows genuine concern for
you, by taking a keen interest in
what you do at work, home, for
leisure and with other significant
relationships. If he is attentive, he will
become sensitive to you and your
environment. He will care about your
desires and needs and this will show
his level of commitment and
sensitivity.
What are his values and beliefs?
Compatible values and beliefs are
crucial if the relationship is to
succeed; this is crucial and cannot be
ignored. What is his character, is he
dependable, loyal, trustworthy,
considerate, and compassionate.
Character is who he is when no one
is looking; it helps to see how he
relates with others. Men of high
character bring out the best in you.
Will he attend family events with
you?
Family is important and if he accepts
to join you for a family function then
it is a sign of some commitment to
the relationship. If he invites you to
his family gathering the question I
would pose is, does he introduce you
to any of the family members as his
girlfriend?
If not, he is not yet sure and there
is no point in pushing it, it may mean
that he needs more time. I have met
many young girls who think that
simply because they attended a
family function, it's nailed. Oh not at
all beloved; It is a great way to have
you fooled.
Does he involve you in his future
plans?
When he talks about the future, do
you feature anywhere, does he talk
with you about his plans, dreams and
aspirations; does he discuss having a
family someday?
When you are sensitive to the small
things it will become clear whether or
not the man you are dating is
husband material or not. Share your
views, more details on this next

ASUU STRIKE: ASUU Demands N1.5tr To End Strike
The Senate on Wednesday said that the striking Academic Staff
Union of Universities (ASUU) wants N1.5 trillion to end its ongoing
strike.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education, Senator
Uche Chukwumerije, released the figure in his contribution on a
motion urging the striking lecturers to call off their strike.
The motion sponsored by the Senate Leader, Senator Victor
Ndoma-Egba, and 106 others is entitled: "Appeal to Academic
Staff Union of Universities to call off the strike action and return
to work."
Chukwumerije, who read the controversial 2009 agreement
between the Federal Government and ASUU, said that part of
the component of the agreement on funding stipulated that "all
regular federal universities shall require the sum of N1.5 trillion
for the period 2009 to 2011.
He said that ASUU is insisting that the agreement must be
implemented to the latter.
He said the agreement also said that "This money is to be paid in
three installments, 2009 – almost N500 billion; 2010 – almost
N500 billion and 2011 – almost N506 billion.
Apart from the N1.5 trillion the agreement also stipulated that
"each state university shall require N3.6 million" while "a minimum
of 26 per cent of the annual budget should be allocated to
education."
According to him, the agreement also said that "education should
be put on First Line Charge" while the Education Tax Act should
be amended to its original concept as High Education Fund."
He noted that the agreement said that "Governing Council of
Universities should access and effectively utilize from Education
Tax Fund funds for research, training and development of
academic staff."
Other components of the agreement included Salary Structure of
Academic Staff of Nigerian universities and earned academic
staff allowances.
The earned academic staff allowances include: "Post graduate
supervision allowances; teaching practice and industrial
allowances; honorarium for external moderation of undergraduate
and postgraduate examination system, postgraduate study
grants; external assessment of readers or professors, call duty
and clinical duty and hazard allowance and excess workload
allowance."

CR7:King of goals
MADRID (AP) - Cristiano Ronaldo maintained his impressive form in
the Champions League by scoring two goals to give Real Madrid a
2-1 win against 10-man Juventus on Wednesday.
The Portugal forward angled a shot behind goalkeeper Gianluigi
Buffon to score in the fourth minute from a sublime pass by
Angel Di Maria.
Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal then pulled down Sergio Ramos in
the area and Ronaldo confidently converted the penalty in the
29th for his seventh Champions League goal this season.
Fernando Llorente had equalized for Juventus seven minutes
earlier by squeezing the ball between goalkeeper Iker Casillas and
the post in the 22nd. Llorente, a former Atheltic Bilbao player,
has now scored six goals against Madrid, including three at the
Santiago Bernabeu.
''We had good control of the game, and with one man extra we
didn't need any more intensity,'' Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said.
Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini was sent off in the 48th on a
straight red card for hitting Ronaldo in the face with his hand as
he vied for the ball shoulder-to-shoulder, but the Portugal
forward missed the resulting free kick.
''It was a very serious and rigorous decision,'' Juventus coach
Antonio Conte said. ''I'm told it was likely taken because Chiellini
was the last man in front of goal, I don't know about that.''
The win gives Madrid nine points from three games and a
commanding lead in Group B, where Galatasaray is second on four
points and Juventus is stuck on two.
Ancelotti began the match with Karim Benzema as the sole
striker and with Di Maria on the right instead of the benched star
signing Gareth Bale. Luka Modric was in the middle and Ronaldo
covered the left flank.
Conte started with Llorente up front, flanked by Carlos Tevez
and Claudio Marchisio.
Casillas had to save a stinging shot by Marchisio in the third
minute, before Di Maria's masterful pass to Ronaldo sliced
through Juventus' flat-footed offside trap to set up the opener
- highlighting Ancelotti's difficult choice between playing the
Argentina winger or Bale.
''I don't think the team helped him to gain access to the ball this
evening,'' Ancelotti said about Bale, who has been struggling with
an injury since joining from Tottenham and came on as a second-
half substitute. ''But I think he is now finally ready to begin a
game.''
Casillas, who has been benched in the league but is Ancelotti's
first choice goalkeeper in the European competition, came out
quickly to punch out a shot on target by Llorente in the 13th.
Illarramendi then conceded a free kick which Juventus tried to
score from by playing a rehearsed set piece which Madrid cleared
after Tevez missed his shot.
Tevez dribbled past Di Maria on the left flank, rushed into the
penalty area and shot just wide of the far top corner in the
15th.
After a period of sustained pressure by Juventus, Andrea Pirlo
raced forward and just missed the target in the 33rd with
Casillas having to save Tevez's shot a minute later.
Conte reinforced his team's defense by substituting Llorente
with Leonardo Bonucci and later by bringing on Kwadwo Asamoah
for Pirlo.
Mindful that Madrid is to play archrival Barcelona in the Spanish
league on Saturday, Ancelotti substituted Benzema in the 67th to
bring on Bale.
Buffon saved a shot from Sami Khedira in the 72nd.

Eating saturated fats 'can protect against heart disease'
Eating saturated fat is GOOD for you and can actually help
protect against heart disease.
That's the view of one of the UK's leading cardiologists, who
is calling for a radical shift in the current advice to cut down
on saturated fat levels in our diets.
Dr Aseem Malhotra said cutting the amount of such fats has
"paradoxically increased" the risk of heart disease.
He also argued in the British Medical Journal that saturated fat
had been "demonised" for decades as a major cause of
cardiovascular disease.
He says, however, there is little scientific evidence to suggest
such a link, he said, and suggested that an increase in sugar
and carbohydrate intake had been overlooked as a cause.
Dr Malhotra, a cardiology specialist registrar at Croydon
University Hospital in London, criticised current medical guidance
and its "obsession with levels of total cholesterol", which he
said "has led to the over-medication of millions of people with
statins", which reduce cholesterol levels.
Instead, adopting a Mediterranean diet rich in oily fish, olive oil,
nuts and fruit and vegetables after a heart attack is almost
three times as powerful in reducing death rates as taking a
statin, he said.
Dr Malhotra said: "The mantra that saturated fat must be
removed to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease has
dominated dietary advice and guidelines for almost four
decades.
"Yet scientific evidence shows that this advice has,
paradoxically, increased our cardiovascular risks."
He highlighted studies in the United States which revealed that
while the proportion of energy consumed from fat had fallen
from 40 per cent to 30 per cent (although absolute fat
consumption remained the same), obesity rocketed.
He noted: "One reason: when you take the fat out, the food
tastes worse.
"The food industry compensated by replacing saturated fat
with added sugar."
Dr Malhotra added: "It is time to bust the myth of the role of
saturated fat in heart disease and wind back the harms of
dietary advice that has contributed to obesity".
Other experts have backed Dr Malhotra's views.
Professor David Haslam, chairman of the National Obesity
Forum, said: "It's extremely naive of the public and the medical
profession to imagine that a calorie of bread, a calorie of meat
and a calorie of alcohol are all dealt in the same way by the
amazingly complex systems of the body.
"The assumption has been made that increased fat in the
bloodstream is caused by increased saturated fat in the diet,
whereas modern scientific evidence is proving that refined
carbohydrates and sugar in particular are actually the
culprits."
Timothy Noakes, professor of exercise and sports science at
the University of Cape Town, added: "Focusing on an elevated
blood cholesterol concentration as the exclusive cause of
coronary heart disease is unquestionably the worst medical
error of our time."

Wenger laments gunners naivety
Arsene Wenger felt his Barclays Premier League leaders paid the
price for naive defending as a late goal from Robert Lewandowski
condemned the hosts to a 2-1 Champions League Group F defeat
to Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners had done well to fight back from going
behind on 16 minutes when Henrikh Mkhitaryan drilled
the ball in after Aaron Ramsey had given away
possession on the edge of his own penalty area.
Olivier Giroud's close-range strike sent the teams
into the break on level terms, before substitute
Santi Cazorla curled a 20-yard effort against the
woodwork.
All of Arsenal's efforts, though, were undone as Dortmund - last
season's beaten finalists - netted with just eight minutes left on
the counter-attack through Lewandowski to ruin Wenger's 64th
birthday and leave the Gunners still with work to do to qualify for
the knockout stages.
'We put ourselves on the back foot with the first goal and naive
for the second goal,' he said. 'If you look at the number of saves
our keeper had to make tonight and you concede two goals, you
can say that we can only look at ourselves for not being mature
enough in situations like that.
'If you cannot win the game, you don't lose it. Especially in the
second half when we were on top, we made things difficult for
ourselves by giving them the second goal.'
Lewandowski's goal came after a lucky escape for the Pole, who
was only shown a yellow card by Swedish referee Jonas
Eriksson when he clashed with Laurent Koscielny, and looked to
have caught the defender with a stray elbow.
'It looked like [it could have been a red card] but I haven't seen it
well,' Wenger added. 'But the referee was in a much better
position than I was and didn't decide to do it. I will have to look at
it again, I don't know.'
England midfielder Jack Wilshere was replaced in the second half
having been troubled by an ankle problem, which is not expected
to keep him out of the weekend's game at Crystal Palace.
Wenger said: 'You could see that he was not completely himself
and that is why I decided to take him off.
'At the moment it is his desire to play that gets him through the
game. It looks like he was handicapped after the first tackle he
got. He looked like he landed awkwardly. He looked to me that he
limped a little bit.
'We will see how he responds in the next two or three days, we
have to wait for the medical assessment.'
Arsenal now find themselves in a three-way fight for top spot in
their group on six points, along with Dortmund and Napoli - who
beat Marseille 2-1 - and will need a better result when they
travel to Germany in two weeks time.
'It is tight and difficult for us, but possible,' said Wenger. 'You
have three teams with six points, and we have played twice at
home and once away, so that means we need a result away
from home - but we can do that.'
Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, who watched from the stands
because of a touchline ban, felt his side were the worthy victors
in London.
'I saw my team fighting and for us we deserved to win this
game,' he said.
'Winning abroad in London, of course you need a bit of luck for
that but if you manage to make the difference with one extra
goal then I think you also deserve it.
'If you watched this game not for Arsenal and not for Dortmund,
you can say maybe Arsenal had some better situations but they
played at home and we didn't come here to dominate Arsenal in
London, we came here to get a result and that's what we did.'

Gold grows on tree in Australia
Scientists from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial
Research Organisation (CSIRO) made the find in the resource-rich
Kalgoorlie region of Western Australia, which was the site of a
major gold rush in the late 1800s.
Geochemist Mel Lintern said it appeared the trees sucked up the
gold particles from 30 metres below the ground through their
roots.
"The eucalypt acts as a hydraulic pump – its roots extend tens
of metres into the ground and draw up water containing the
gold," he said.
"As the gold is likely to be toxic to the plant, it's moved to the
leaves and branches where it can be released or shed to the
ground."
In research published in the journal Nature Communications, the
CSIRO said the leaf particles themselves would not trigger a new
gold rush as they measure just a fifth the width of a human hair
and are visible only through advanced X-ray imaging.
Researchers involved in the study estimated it would take the
gold from 500 eucalyptus trees to make a single wedding band.
But they said the discovery presented a gilt-edged opportunity to
improve the exploration methods used to search for gold, making
them more efficient and environmentally friendly.
"This link between… vegetation growth and buried gold deposits
could prove instrumental in developing new technologies for
mineral exploration," they said.
New discoveries of gold have fallen by 45 percent in the past
decade, while prices have skyrocketed as reserves steadily
dwindle – the cost of the yellow metal shot up by 482 percent
between December 2000 and March this year.
The CSIRO said scientists could use a technique known as
"biogeochemical sampling" to give an indication of the presence of
gold.
"By sampling and analysing vegetation for traces of minerals, we
may get an idea of what's happening below the surface without
the need to drill," Lintern said.
"It's a more targeted way of searching for minerals that reduces
costs and impact on the environment."
He said the method could also be used to find other metals such
as zinc and copper.
Nigel Radford, a geochemist who has been involved in gold
exploration for decades in Western Australia, said the discovery
was a world-first with major implications for prospectors.
"A lot of this stuff has been speculated about for some time,
but the identification of the gold particles in the leaf materials is
completely convincing and very, very important for the future of
mineral exploration," he told the Australian Broadcasting
Corporation.
According to the World Gold Council, more than 174,000 tonnes of
gold have been extracted from Earth since the dawn of
civilisation.
In 2011, the US Geological Survey estimated there were 51,000
tonnes of gold left in reserve in the world.
Radford said using biogeochemical sampling had the potential to
make searching for gold deposits much easier.
"If you can sample on-surface, it saves all the cost and all the
time involved in drilling holes," he said.
Sixty percent of gold becomes jewellery, but it is also a crucial
component in electronics and is used in medical technology,
including for cancer treatment.

Kanye offended quite a number of people when he brought a

Seattle on Saturday. Kanye now explains the method to his
madness...
Kanye tells Wild 94.9 in San Fransico
"I had a friend of mine that is a pastor and we were
discussing how we were going to deliver it. My girl even
asked afterwards "isn't that weird if Jesus comes on stage
or something like that?" No we do plays all the time where
people play Jesus. What's awesome about Christianity is that
we are allowed to portray God. We'e allowed to draw an
image of Him. We're allowed to make movies about Him. Other
religions you can't do that. Michelangelo did it…It's a painting,
it's a sculpture, it's a moving opera, it's a play, it's a message.
I'm not even going to do any comparisons with that. God
knows where my heart is at."

Kim kardashian flashes diamond engagement ring from Kanye west
The first look at Kim Kardashian's engagement ring from Kanye
West comes courtesy of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star's
BFF, Brittny Gastineau. The Eye on Glam blogger shared a picture of
Kim's 15-carat sparkler via her Instagram account on Tuesday, Oct.
22. "Congratulations to @kimkardashian & #Kanyewest on this
magical night," Gastineau captioned.
West presented birthday girl Kim with the Lorraine Schwartz ring on
Monday. The rapper rented out AT&T Park in San Francisco, Calif.,
and invited the bride-to-be's friends and family to watch the
proposal in person. Kim looked beautiful as ever in a cream and blue
Valentino dress.
Neither Kim, 33, nor West, 36, has taken to social media to share
their happy news with fans just yet. Khloé Kardashian Odom,
meanwhile, tweeted about her "tears of JOY," and Kris Jenner
exclusively told E! News that she is "so happy" for the future
spouses.
Earlier this month, Kim's other engagement ring was sold for
$749,000 through a Christie's auction. Her ex-husband, Kris
Humphries, put the 16-carat stunner up for sale just four months
after their divorce was finalized. "The ring is indeed Kris' property
that he received through his marriage dissolution," the Boston
Celtics player's rep said in a statement. "He has long-since moved
on."
With baby North to look after and a wedding to plan, we'd say Kim
has, too.

The truth about Govt's position on ASUU strike - FinanceMinistry
This is a press statement from the Federal Ministry of Finance
about the ongoing ASUU strike. It's been four long months (Quite
shameful I must add) with no apparent resolution to the conflict
in sight...and some people are blaming the Minister of finance Dr
Okonjo Iweala for what's going on.
Some people in ASUU have been distributing flyers with abusive
messages against Dr Okonjo-Iweala and now the ministry is
issuing a statement about it, saying the minister is not the
problem. I'd rather read about when ASUU is calling off this strike
to be honest. Find the press statement below
Contrary to some recent media reports, the Federal
government has not adopted a take-it-or-leave-it approach
in its negotiations with ASUU. Rather, the approach is
focused on positive engagement and achieving sustainable
solutions to the challenges facing higher education in the
country. That is why President Goodluck Jonathan recently
appealed to ASUU to respond to government's positive steps
by calling off its strike in the interest of suffering students
and parents.
Despite this, for several days now, some elements in ASUU have
been distributing pamphlets and flyers with abusive and
inflammatory messages against the Coordinating Minister for the
Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in
mosques and other places. This is taking academic unionism to a
new low and infusing it with unnecessary politics. I am sure
majority of ASUU members are not in support of this.
These messages are directed at using falsehood to demonize the
Minister as callous and unsympathetic to the plight of students
and parents. The major lie being peddled in the pamphlets and
flyers is that Dr Okonjo-Iweala has insisted on a "take-it-or-
leave-it approach" in the negotiations with ASUU. Nothing could be
further from the truth.
Dr Okonjo-Iweala is the daughter of two retired professors and
her father is presently a member of ASUU's Board of Trustees
and has been one for a long time. She speaks with her father
everyday on the issue so how can be insensitive to issues
concerning the sad state of tertiary education in the country?
She understands and sympathizes with the plight of both
students and lecturers. She wants our children back in school as
soon as possible. Remember she is a mother and two of her
young relatives are sitting at home due to the strike.
This is why government is working hard, under the leadership of
the President, to seek practical and sustainable solutions to the
challenges facing higher education in Nigeria. The President has
made available N100 billion a year in the first instance to repair
hostels, laboratories and classrooms and other facilities. An offer
has also been made to ASUU of N30 billion towards their earned
allowances. In fact, negotiations have even gone further than
this. This is the first time, in years of negotiating with
government, that significant sums of money have been put on
the table for ASUU and universities on this particular set of
issues. The Coordinating Minister is fully part of this.
Against this background, ASUU elements who want the strike to
continue should have a heart and rethink their current take-it-
or-leave-it approach to negotiation. Government has
demonstrated its commitment to improving the university system.
And it is even ready to do much more going forward. ASUU should
listen to the voice of reason and the yearnings of Nigerians on
this issue.

about the ongoing ASUU strike.

The s3xiest things you can do on a Date
You learn a lot about someone when you share a meal together.
If your date makes the experience uptight and restrictive, well,
the sex is going to be horrible too. Eating is best when there is
spontaneity and variety. I'm very type-A, and many things in my
life are about control and domination, but eating should be a
submissive experience, where you let down your guard and enjoy
the ride.
I don't have much patience for people who are self-conscious
about the act of eating, and it irritates me when someone denies
themselves the pleasure of a bloody hunk of steak or a pungent
French cheese because of some outdated nonsense about
what's appropriate or attractive. Stop worrying about how your
breath's going to smell, whether there's beurre blanc on your
face, or whether ordering the braised pork belly will make you
look fat. Eating with abandon couldn't be more of a turn-on: it
shows that you're comfortable with yourself.
A perfect date is with a person who eats without fear,
prejudice, or concerns about his or her appearance. I remember
one of my first dates with my wife: She ordered a six-pound
lobster. I sat there, enraptured, watching her suck every bit of
meat from it—she got a standing ovation from the floor staff.
She's the kind of woman who will order filet mignon as an
appetizer followed by a T-bone steak. Her fearless, open-minded
approach to food is completely alluring.
It's also wildly exciting to be open to the unfamiliar, because it just
might be delicious. And I know not everyone can travel the world
like I do for my TV show. But wherever you are, you can explore.
One of the best things about this country is that it's filled with
people from somewhere else—you can travel the world without
leaving your town. L.A. has the most vibrant Korean- food scene
(we explore it on my show). In Minneapolis, you're close to
amazing Vietnamese food. tlanta and Chicago have fantastic
South American and Mexican fare.
I like dive-y places like Danny Bowien's Mission Chinese Food in
NYC: no wine list, no white tablecloths, no long tasting menu—no
pretense at all. The night is about having a self-indulgent time
without any of the intrusive notes that come with fine dining.
You don't have to worry about how you look or try to impress
the waiter with what you know. You can eat with a fork,
chopsticks, or even your hands. It's all about the enjoyment of
the moment and the company and food. And if you can be
yourself slurping spicy peanut noodles in front of another person,
you may have a keeper.
I promise you will go to a more intense place with your date or
friend if you try something new. You don't bond with a safe
order. I've eaten fermented shark. I've eaten cobra heart. (It
was beating when I put it in my mouth. How to describe the
taste? Think very athletic oyster.) I don't want to experience
these foods again, but I'm glad I tried them. What's the worst-
case scenario? You spend some extra time in the bathroom.
(Admittedly, not a turn-on for most people.) But you'll have a
good story to tell. You'll share an experience. And, maybe, you'll
change your palate forever.
For a dinner date, I eat light all day to save room, then I go all in: I
choose this meal and this order, and I choose you, the person
across from me, to share it with. There's a beautiful intimacy in
a meal like that. It's about exploration and taste. And kissing
after dinner. And maybe there's a little wine and curry on your
breath...and that's nice.
It's only when you open yourself to the adventure of the
unknown, the strange, even the shocking, that you get to enjoy
the sensual, passionate, joyful experience of sharing food and
drink. And it sets the stage for whatever might follow.

Wilshere better on bench
England under-20 coach Peter Taylor has told Roy
Hodgson to keep Jack Wilshere on the bench for tonight's
crunch qualifier against Poland.
Reports have suggested that the England manager will drop
Frank Lampard in favour of the Arsenal star in the final qualifier
of the campaign.
But Taylor believes Hodgson would be silly to change the team
that beat Montenegro 4-1 on Friday, whilst insisting Wilshere is
better when released late on.
He told Sky Sports News: "Gerrard and Lampard were
outstanding on Friday - they balanced the team, kept the ball and
went forward at the right time.
"I would start with the same team. When Wilshere came on he set
up a couple of counter attacks.
"He can run and pass past players. If the other side are tired and
there is half-an-hour to go, Jack could be lethal."
Taylor says the experience of Lampard and Steven Gerrard will
be needed to deal with a more attack-minded opponent in Poland.
"The hardest game was Friday because of the way Montenegro
got behind the ball," said Taylor.
"Poland will have more attacking flair. We are going to have to
defend well but there will be more holes and options for us to
score. We have to go for it as we did the other night."
Wilshere has had an up and down season for club and country so
far having seen his place in the Arsenal midfield usurped by
Mathieu Flamini and a resurgent Aaron Ramsey.
Whilst Arsene Wenger originally chose Wilshere on the left, the
Frenchman eventually opted to start him from the bench in
favour of Tomas Rosicky.
Missing out on the England squad on Friday was a further blow
to Wilshere and, if Taylor gets his wish, he will be facing more
time on the bench tonight.

Depression in Women
Here are the facts about depression in women: In the U.S., about 15 million people experience depression each year. The majority of them are women. Unfortunately, nearly two-thirds do not get the help they need.
Depression in women is very common. In fact, women are twice as likely to develop clinical depression as men. Up to one in four women is likely to have an episode of major depression at some point in life.
What is depression?
Depression is a serious and pervasive mood disorder. It causes feelings of sadness, hopelessness, helplessness, and worthlessness. Depression can be mild to moderate with symptoms of apathy, little appetite, difficulty sleeping, low self-esteem, and low-grade fatigue. Or it can be more severe.
What are the symptoms of depression in women?
Symptoms of depression in women include:
Persistent sad, anxious, or "empty" mood
Loss of interest or pleasure in activities, including sex
Restlessness, irritability, or excessive crying
Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, helplessness, hopelessness, pessimism
Sleeping too much or too little, early-morning waking
Appetite and/or weight loss or overeating and weight gain
Decreased energy, fatigue, feeling "slowed down"
Thoughts of death or suicide, or suicide attempts
Difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions
Persistent physical symptoms that do not respond to treatment, such as headaches, digestive disorders, and chronic pain
What are the symptoms of mania in women?
Mania is a highly elevated mood that can occur with bipolar disorder. Moods in bipolar disorder swing from the lows of depression to the highs of mania. Even though mania is an elevated mood, it is serious and needs medical assessment and treatment.
The symptoms of mania include:
Abnormally elevated mood
Irritability
Decreased need for sleep
Grandiose ideas
Greatly increased talking
Racing thoughts
Increased activity, including sexual activity
Markedly increased energy
Poor judgment that can lead to risk-taking behavior
Inappropriate social behavior
Why is depression in women more common than depression in men?
Before adolescence, the rate of depression is about the same in girls and boys. However, with the onset of puberty, a girl's risk of developing depression increases dramatically to twice that of boys.
Some experts believe that the increased chance of depression in women may be related to changes in hormone levels that occur throughout a woman's life. These changes are evident during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause, as well as after giving birth or experiencing a miscarriage. In addition, the hormone fluctuations that occur with each month's menstrual cycle probably contribute to premenstrual syndrome, or PMS, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder, or PMDD -- a severe syndrome marked especially by depression, anxiety, and mood swings that occurs the week before menstruation and interferes with normal functioning of daily life.
What increases the chances of depression in women?
According to the National Institutes of Health, factors that increase the risk of depression in women include reproductive, genetic, or other biological factors; interpersonal factors; and certain psychological and personality characteristics. In addition, women juggling work with raising kids and women who are single parents suffer more stress that may trigger symptoms of depression. Other factors that could increase risk include:
Family history of mood disorders
History of mood disorders in early reproductive years
Loss of a parent before age 10
Loss of social support system or the threat of such a loss
Ongoing psychological and social stress, such as loss of a job, relationship stress, separation or divorce
Physical or sexual abuse as a child
Use of certain medications
Women can also get postpartum depression after the birth of a baby. Some people get seasonal affective disorder in the winter. Depression is one part of bipolar disorder.
Understanding Depression -- Prevention
Although depression is a highly treatable condition, some forms of depression may not be preventable. That's because depression may be triggered by a chemical malfunctioning in the brain. However, the latest medical studies confirm that depression may often be alleviated and sometimes prevented with good health habits. Eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and taking time out for fun and relaxation, may work together to prevent a depressed mood.
If you or a loved one is experiencing symptoms of depression that last for more than one or two weeks, see your health care provider for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Jay Z on Rumors, Romancing Beyoncé, and His "Biggest Fan," Blue Ivy
Jay Z cuts a dapper figure in a suit and tie on the cover of Vanity Fair's November 2013 issue, which is available on Oct. 9. In what might just be his most revealing interview yet, Jay opened up about everything from his checkered past as a drug dealer in the streets of Brooklyn to his current status as a husband and father. The oft-private hip-hop megastar even talked about something that we rarely hear about from him: his relationship with Beyoncé Knowles. On their early courtship, Jay said that he worked hard to "wine and dine" his wife of five years, adding, "You've got to try first. You got to dazzle." See more quotes from Jay Z on handling rumors, Blue's musical tastes, and why he and Beyoncé decided to trademark their baby's name in November's Vanity Fair:
On Blue Ivy's musical tastes: "She does like her mother's music — she watches [Beyoncé's concerts] on the computer every night. But my album came out and I don't k
On his past as a drug dealer: "I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer. To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up. Things you can get in easily to get out of [that] life. At some point, you have to have an exit strategy, because your window is very small; you're going to get locked up or you're going to die."
On his early courtship with Beyoncé: "[In 2001] we were just beginning to try to date each other. You've got to try first. You got to dazzle . . . wine and dine."
Would Beyoncé have dated him if he wasn't "Jay Z"?: "If I'm as cool as I am, yes. But she's a charming Southern girl, you know, she's not impressed . . . But I would have definitely had to be this cool."
On rumors that Beyoncé wasn't really pregnant with Blue: "It's just so stupid. You know, I felt dismissive about it, but you've got to feel for her. I mean, we've got a really charmed life, so how can we complain? But we're still human beings. And even in hip-hop, all the blogs had a field day with it. I'm like, 'We come from you guys, we represent you guys. Why are you perpetuating this? Why are you adding fuel to this ridiculous rumor?'"
On trademarking Blue's name: "People wanted to make products based on our child's name, and you don't want anybody trying to benefit off your baby's name. It wasn't for us to do anything; as you see, we haven't done anything."

Miley Cyrus offered $1million to work on porn movie
Miley Cyrus's saucy twerking has won her a very indecent proposal after the former Disney star was offered to go one step further and shoot a porn movie in return for a million dollars.
But the racy 20-year-old wouldn't have to get too down and dirty for her £600,000 pay cheque as adult film firm GameLink simply want the Wrecking Ball singer to direct hardcore sex scenes for them.
The offer landed on Miley's desk offering her full 'creative control'.
The firm's vice president, Jeff Dillon, wrote to the We Can't Stop singer: '[You've] become an empowered young woman that is unapologetic about your lifestyle, especially when it comes to expressing your sexuality … you are the ideal choice to show the world your vision as an artist in the world of adult entertainment.'
Alluding to the sauce pot's spat with Irish crooner Sinead O'Connor – who dubbed Miley a pop prostitute – the firm added: 'We at Gamelink feel this gives you a chance to finally show the world you are not a little girl anymore, and you won't bow to the pressures of the likes of Sinead O'Connor, who is jealous of your success
But the racy 20-year-old wouldn't have to get too down and dirty for her £600,000 pay cheque as adult film firm GameLink simply want the Wrecking Ball singer to direct hardcore sex scenes for them.
The offer landed on Miley's desk offering her full 'creative control'.

Justin Bieber Set To Release Track Every Week
Justin Bieber has started the countdown to his next movie by releasing a new song every week for the next 10 weeks.
'Heartbreaker' will be the first single release, coming out at midnight on Sunday October 6, launching what he's calling "MusicMondays".
Taking to Twitter.com, he writes, "Sunday Midnight heartbreaker MusicMondays 10weeks (sic). "MusicMondays is about to begin - SO MUCH Love FOR THE FANS...you are always there for me and I will always be there for you.
MUCH Love.
thanks". Bieber, who previously teased fans with a snippet of Heartbreaker in July (13), is set to release a follow-up to 2011's Never Say Never concert documentary movie in time for the Christmas (Dec13) holidays, although few details about the project, which documents the making of his Believe album, have been revealed to date.

Alberta pipeline workers discover dinosaur Fossil
The skeleton of a duck-billed dinosaur was discovered by workers excavating for a pipeline southwest of Spirit River, Alberta, on Sept. 30, 2013. (Royal Tyrell Museum photo)
GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. — A Tourmaline Oil crew on Monday uncovered a piece of fossilized dinosaur.
The crew was installing a pipeline in the Saddle Hills area southwest of Spirit River. Workers were digging about 1 1/2 metres into the ground when a backhoe operator scraped something that wasn't dirt or rock.
"I think what's really the most significant thing about the story is that this pipeline company that encountered this animal contacted the appropriate authorities and were a good, corporate responsible company by doing what is not only required, but what they should do," said Andy Neuman, executive director of the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller, Alta.
Construction on the site has come to a halt while a crew of specialists from the museum, as well as Matthew Vavrek, the Pipestone Creek Dinosaur Initiative's head paleontologist, work on moving the fossil.
"The piece that's exposed, to the best of my knowledge, is about two metres long. It's most of the tail of, probably, a duckbill dinosaur," Neuman said.
Neuman explained that it's possible they may discover more of the hadrosaur running into the rock as they work to remove it.
Scott Kirker, secretary and general counsel with Tourmaline, added that the company is fine with having to delay some of the work for a few days.
"They just waited to see what they would have to do next. So that part of the project is certainly not going anywhere at the moment, which is fine. It's kind of cool," he said.
